The flagship model in the ASICS structured cushioning category is now available in a kids version. With its Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL Cushioning and Solyte Midsole, the GEL-KAYANO 17 GS offers an excellent professional running shoe. To accommodate for children's lesser body weight, the three-piece outsole is designed more flexibly to make the rolling motion of the foot easier. The shoe's outsole is reinforced with AHAR+ rubber to reduce excessive wear, and it has a stitched toe for greater durability.

Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning

Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning refers to the inclusion of specially formulated Solyte material in the forefoot. The material's density is reduced, allowing the female foot to compress it sufficiently and benefit fully from the bounce-back qualities of Solyte. Traditionally, women's running shoes contained cushioning material of the same density as men's. However, as women are usually lighter than men, the female foot would not fully compress the material, resulting in a less than optimal ride. Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning addresses this issue and provides women with a more comfortable and responsive ride. The cushioning material, located under the ball of the foot and extending across the width of the shoe, also acts as an efficient shock absorber.
